Olmeca

As most migrant families who nomadically move according to employment opportunities, such as construction, working the fields or meat packaging, Olmeca‟s was no different. Born in East Los Angeles, Olmeca had a bi national experience. He grew up in Ocotlan, Jalisco, MX, South Central L.A. and El Sereno until he was 10 years old. He then grew up in Rosemead, CA, a gang training ground in Los Angeles County.
OLMECA has performed alongside iconic artists like KRS One, ONYX, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, X Clan, Dilated Peoples, Saul Williams the late Joe Strummer (The Clash) & Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine); as well as Spanish speaking artists such as Julieta Venegas, Ozomatli, and Jenny Rivera. In addition, OLMECA has collaborated with Black Eyed Peas member, Taboo, and renowned group, La Maldita Vecindad. In addition, he extends his expertise in the production of music by supporting other “artivist.” He has written songs for motion pictures and has contributed music and music direction for a set of documentaries.

This year The Hue is proud to present Olmeca @ Desert Mirage High School as part of our outreach in effort to connect more music, musicians and artists with youth outside of The Hue Festival.
